Arani Nitkunan MBBS, MA (Cantab), MRCP (UK) (Neurology), PhD is a consultant neurologist with a special interest in neuro-ophthalmology and stroke. She read medicine at Newnham College, Cambridge and Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital, London. After completing her MRCP and general medical training, she was awarded a PhD for stroke research at St George’s Hospital, London in 2007. Neurology training was at various hospitals in the southwest London region, at the National Hospital for Neurology, Queen Square, London and at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge. She spent one month in Jaffna, Sri Lanka in 2012 as Out of Programme Training.
Dr Abiramy Jeyabalan was appointed as a Consultant Respiratory Physician and Lung Cancer Lead at University Hospitals Bristol Foundation Trust in 2013. Prior to this she completed her training in the South West deanery. Her areas of specialist interest are lung cancer with she has extensive experience in endobronchial ultrasound. She also has an interest in teaching having completed a year long post in postgraduate medical education. She graduated from the University of Bristol Medical School in 2001 and also has a BSc in physiology.
Dr Dushen Tharmaratnam has been a Consultant Cardiologist at North Devon District Hospital since October 2012. Prior to that, he completed a 2 year research post at London Chest Hospital/Queen Mary University Hospital , developing a novel endovascular treatment for ascending aortic dissection. His specialist registrar training in Cardiology was based at the Peninsula Deanery, which involved rotations at Derriford Hospital, Plymouth and Royal Cornwall Hospital, Truro, but he has also had registrar experience at 2 other tertiary centres: Bristol Heart Institute and Northern General Hospital, Sheffield. He graduated from University of Bristol Medical School in 1998.”
Dr Archchana Radhakrishnan is a Specialist Registrar in Anaesthetics and Intensive Care Medicine working on the Imperial Northwest Thames London rotation and is currently at St.Mary’s and Northwick Park Hospital. She also has a BSc in Medical Education with interests in Paediatric Anaesthetics, Trauma and simulation training. Today she will be giving a talk entitled “Thrilla in Manilla” – working abroad and how to maximise opportunities.
