CATARACT EYE CAMP CLINICS
Immediately after the ceasefire in 2002 in northern Sri Lanka, there was a big backlog of patients who were virtually blind due to very advanced cataract. Responding to the appeal, we sent a team of five UK based Opthalmologists, three anaesthetists and three nurses completed the first project in August 2002 at the Jaffna teaching hospital attending to nearly 800 patients.
Since then, this has been an almost annual project responding to various appeals from different locations. In 2012 we grew the project to include further oculoplastic procedures and delivered teaching to the local surgeons.
Each cataract surgery has costs associated with it. Every penny that you donate will go directly towards this cost and will help us serve as many people as we can each time we go Sri Lanka. Any amount donated would be greatly appreciated.
